What was your role?

I worked on Challenges.

What did you work on?

What was the impact of your project?
What did you learn or improve on from this internship or from your teammates?
I`ve learned from my teammates how important immediate communication. When you communicate quickly and effectively the entire team benefits. I`ve also learned how to code more efficiently. This means knowing better search prompts and knowing where to place code so that I`m not reusing the same code from an earlier part.
What skills have you gained?
One new skill that I`ve picked up during the Unadat internship is how to lead meetings. When the internship first began, I was nervous to be the main speaker but after a few days I became a lot more comfortable. Another new skill is coding in PHP. I`ve never coded in that language before. I`ve coded in JS but I never created an AJAX request so that was new as well. Another new skill I learned is how to use SQL Workbench. It was interesting to learn how to create and alter a table, and add columns.
What was the biggest roadblock you've overcome?
The biggest roadblock I overcame was when people wouldn`t alert me right away if there was an issue they need help solving. I would ask in morning meetings if anyone needed anything, and only sometimes people would say something, and only if I texted someone directly they`d tell me an issue that came up. I solved this issue by restating in meetings often that people can come to me privately with issues, and directly asking people privately for updates more often, and this helped a lot.
How has company culture guided your work?
The company culture guided my work by having frequent meetings and checkups. Therefore, I was working closely with others often.
What was your experience at Unadat?
What was one big project you worked on during the internship? Can you walk me through the process?
What advice would you give to future interns?
My advice to the next crop of interns is to always start working as soon as you can. Personally, I would start my work as early as I could but for tickets that are dependent on another ticket being completed first, it would be difficult to finish if even half the day was lost by waiting on another sub-team.
